I got some real ones in my corner and this piece is dedicated to them. Gratitude to family, friends, and past loves for the lessons and reflections. From church, to schools, starving artist years, spraycations, and entrepreneurship… I’ve never done it on my own. Friends have always held me down.
The Adinkra Symbol - ESE NE TEKREMA, translates to “the teeth and the tongue”. It's the symbol of friendship and interdependence. The teeth and the tongue play interdependent roles in the mouth. They may come into conflict, but they need to work together.
I like the dynamic movement of the brown stems/branches. Their trajectory is going in different directions but they are linked at the core. Just like me and my homies. Growing organically and connecting when necessary.
